In today’s post I show you how to bake simple & easy Homemade Chocolate Croissants at home. Have fun baking!
Homemade: Homemade Chocolate Croissants

Ingredients for about 8 Homemade Chocolate Croissants:
- 500 grams of flour
- 300 milliliters lukewarm milk
- 50 grams sugar
- 200 grams soft butter
- 1 bar of dark chocolate
- ½ cube of yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg + a sip milk for brushing
- Additional flour for the countertop
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- High vessel to stir together the yeast-milk-mixture
- Whisk
- Mixing bowl
- Mixer/Kitchen machine
- Rolling pin
- Cutting board
- Kitchen towel
- Brush
- Small cup to stir together egg & milk
- Pizza cutter or knife
- Baking tray + baking paper
- Wire rack
Instructions for the Homemade Chocolate Croissants:
Crumble ½ cube of fresh yeast into a high container & add 50 grams sugar along with 300 milliliters lukewarm milk…
…stir together with a whisk until sugar & yeast have completely dissolved…
…give the yeast-milk-mixture along with 500 grams flour & a teaspoon salt into a mixing bowl…
…& knead all ingredients with a kitchen machine for 4 – 5 minutes until smooth, the dough should be completely detached from the bowl wall, but still sticky…
…thouroughly knead the dough with your hands on a slightly floured working top for 1 – 2 minutes…
…& form a ball…
…next, with a knife cut the dough into 8 equal sized pieces…
…then form each dough piece into small balls…
…and with a rolling pin roll out on a slightly floured working top until thin and flat…
…pull apart the dough sheets with your hands like a pizza to reach the size of a plate…
…next, lay one dough sheet onto a cutting board…
…spread evenly with about 30 grams of soft butter…
…top with another dough sheet…
…& also spread evenly with about 30 grams of soft butter…
…then process all other dough sheets as seen in steps 11 – 14, but do not spread the last sheet with butter…
…afterwards allow the dough stack to chill in the fridge for 30 minutes…
…again slightly flour the countertop…
…lift the dough stack onto the floured surface & first carefully flatten the stack with your hands from the inside outwards…
…then start to roll out with a rolling pin…
…until thin & flat…
…afterwards with a pizza cutter or knife cut the dough circle into 8 equal sized triangles…
…roll out each triangle with a rolling pin again…
…then place a bar of dark chocolate onto the triangle’s wide side …
…and roll up from the wide side…
…to form croissants…
…place 4 croissants with a little distance to each other onto a lined baking tray…
…and allow to rest for 45 minutes in a warm place…
…until the volume has increased significantly…
…finally whisk together 1 egg with a sip milk…
…brush the croissants with the egg mixture…
…& bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (top/bottom heat) for 12 – 15 minutes…
…get the croissants out of the oven…
…decoratively garnish the croissants with some melted dark chocolate…
…then allow them to cool completely…
…& serve!
