Scones are a British pastry traditionally served for Tea Time. They are served warm with butter, jam, honey or clotted cream.

Ingredients for about 10 – 12 Homemade Scones:

  • 425 grams of flour
  • 115 grams of butter
  • 65 grams of sugar
  • 240 milliliters of milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 grams of raisins
  • 1 sachet of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • Flour to dust the countertop

Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Kitchen machine/Mixer with dough hook
  • Whisk
  • Rolling pin
  • Round cookie cutter or glass/cup with 6 – 7 centimeters diameter
  • Baking tray + parchment paper
  • Brush
  • Cup + Tablespoon

Instructions for the Homemade Scones:




Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 1Give milk along with eggs into a mixing bowl…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 2…and whisk up thoroughly with a whisk or a mixer…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 3…set aside 4 – 5 tablespoons of milk-egg-mixture…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 4…then give the egg-milk mixture together with the remaining ingredients (except the raisins) into a mixing bowl…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 5…& start kneading with a kitchen machine or mixer with dough hook for about 4 – 5 minutes until smooth but sticky dough…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 6…then add the raisins & briefly knead in…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 7…flour the countertop well…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 8…give the sticky dough onto the floured surface & dust with more flour on the top…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 9…next knead by pulling from the outside inwards until the whole dough is coated with a light flour layer…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 10…& form into a ball…





Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 11…flatten the dough ball a bit using your hands & then roll out with a rolling pin until a thickness of 2,5 centimeters…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 12…with a round cookie cutter cut out small dough circles with a diameter of 6 – 7 centimeters, remove the excess dough, knead & roll out again until the whole dough is used up…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 13…place the round dough circles with plenty space between each other on a lined baking tray…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 14…& brush with the egg-milk-mixture we have set aside at the beginning…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 15…then bake in the preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for about 12 – 13 minutes…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 16…lift the done scones out of the oven & allow to coll for about 10 minuets…

Scones Selber Machen - Schritt 17…then serve the warm scones along with butter, jam or clotted cream & enjoy!
