Ingredients for 4 Homemade Filet o Fish Sandwich:
- 4 burger buns
- 400 grams pollock fillet (in blocks of 100 grams)
- 4 slices processed cheese
- 125 grams mayonnaise
- 1 gherkin + 2 tablespoons pickle water
- 5 – 6 sprigs parsley
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ lemon
- 1 egg
- Flour & breadcrumbs
- Salt, pepper & sugar
- About 1 liter of oil for deep-frying
Required kitchen gadgets, helper & preparations:
- Bowl to stir together sauce
- Pot or wok for deep-frying
- Wooden stick
- Kitchen paper
Instructions for the Homemade Filet o Fish Sandwich:
First cut gherkin into thin dices…
…also finely chop parsley…
…in a small bowl stir together parsley & gherkin dices along with 125 grams mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons gherkin pickle water, a dash of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon onion powder & a pinch of salt, pepper & sugar, then set aside until serving…
…now successively bread the fish blocks by turning them first into flour…
…then pull through whisked eggs…
…& finally turn in breadcrumbs…
…next, heat up about 1 liter of oil for deep-frying…
…to test whether the oil is already hot enough, dip a small wooden stick into the oil & as soon as small bubbles rise up on the wooden stick you can start deep-frying…
…for that carefully slide the breaded fish blocks (max. 2 at a time) into the hot oil and deep-fry for about 6 – 7 minutes…
…turning occasionally…
…after about 7 minutes lift out & allow to drain on kitchen paper…
…then halve a burger bun & garnish the bottom half with a slice processed cheese…
…then place a breded fish fillet onto the cheese…
…and add 1 – 2 tablespoons of the prepared sauce…
…finally top with the upper half. Done!
